Arboretum of Arco
Botanical Garden – Arco, Lake Garda
The Arboretum of Arco, located in Arco, Trentino, is a charming arboretum and botanical garden. This historic park, once the private garden of the Archduke, continues to thrive today as a living botanical museum.
It is home to over 200 species of trees and shrubs, including North American conifers, Southeast Asian plants, and Mediterranean flora. Visitors can admire some of Europe’s oldest sequoias, California cypresses, holm oaks, agaves, prickly pears, acacias, and yuccas during a stroll through the park.
The Arboretum and its one-hectare historic park are popular among nature enthusiasts and school groups. It also offers a cool, tranquil retreat during the summer heat, under the shade of ancient trees.
Managed by the municipality of Arco in collaboration with the province and the Museum of Science in Trento (MUSE), the arboretum focuses on environmental education and the study of plant development in relation to the climate.
The Arboretum of Arco Park features informational signs about each plant and recreated natural landscapes showcasing subtropical and Asian habitats. Visitors can also explore typical Limonaie (orangeries), ponds, and slopes covered with green and colorful flowering genista.
