Giocabosco
Outdoor Activity – Gavardo, Lake Garda
Giocabosco Park, located in Gavardo, near Lake Garda, is a whimsical realm filled with fairies and elves. Established in 2005 by Michela Sartori, this magical oak forest is designed especially for children to enjoy with their families or friends.
The park features a unique family program that teaches kids how to protect nature. In one of the stories, forest fairies describe the gnomes’ role as “guardians of the forest” and explain how visitors can support their efforts.
Each child receives a red elf cap and a blue vest before starting their educational adventure through the forest. They use their senses of smell, touch, hearing, and sight to identify plant scents, feel forest fruits, recognize forest sounds, and spot animals. The park includes gnome tree houses and has ponies, rabbits, chickens, and pigeons that belong to the fairies. Most of these animals roam freely and are safe to interact with.
For lunch, visitors can choose to eat at the park’s restaurant or find a cozy picnic spot. After the meal, children can engage in creative games, navigate a labyrinth, slide down tunnels, ride trains, and participate in a painting and make-up corner. Pony rides are available, and kids can earn a “pixie permit” as part of the experience. The day concludes with the awarding of a “Guardian of the Forest” diploma to all participants.
Visitors should register in advance and keep the park’s activities a surprise for the children to ensure a day full of unexpected delights. Giocabosco Park is situated in Gavardo, 10 kilometers from Salò, near Lake Garda. Overnight accommodations are available 2.5 kilometers away at a local agriturismo for those traveling from a distance.
