The Malcesine Monte Baldo cable car consists of three stations. The departure station is conveniently situated in Malcesine at Via Navene Vecchia 12, within walking distance from the old town. This location offers easy access by foot, car, or public transport. The station is equipped with modern facilities and provides breathtaking views of the lake as you prepare for your ascent.
First Section: The initial ascent takes you from Malcesine to the intermediate station in San Michele at about 580 meters above sea level. The cabin from Malcesine to San Michele carries 45 people. This section offers a gentle ride, allowing passengers to enjoy stunning views of Lake Garda and the town of Malcesine.
Second Section: From San Michele, you’ll transition to a rotating cable car cabin that carries up to 80 people and provides a unique 360° panoramic view as you ascend to the mountain station in Tratto Spino at an elevation of 1,760 meters. This innovative design ensures that all passengers can enjoy uninterrupted views of the landscape, making the journey to the summit both exciting and memorable.
Summit Station: The journey concludes at Tratto Spino on Monte Baldo, where visitors are greeted with spectacular views of Lake Garda, the Po Valley, and the distant Dolomites. The Cable Car Malcesine Monte Baldo operates year-round, except during March and November when it is closed for maintenance. Currently, it is open from March 30th to November 3rd, 2024. The first ascent starts at 8:15 am, with rides every 20 minutes and increased frequency according to demand. The last ascent is at 6:00 pm, and the last return is at 6:45 pm.
Tickets can be purchased at the departure station in Malcesine or online through the official website. Discounts are available for teenagers under 14 years old. Children up to 1.20 meters in height and persons with disabilities receive a free ticket, which can be issued at the ticket offices at the stations. If you present a valid ticket for the Cable Car Prada Costabella at the Malcesine departure station ticket office, you’ll receive a €3.00 discount on an adult roundtrip ticket.
Tickets can also be purchased online in advance, valid for the entire current season, allowing you to avoid queues at the ticket office. By booking an exact date and time slot, you can acquire immediate access to boarding and cabins. Please pay close attention to the date and time selected, as changes cannot be made once the booking is confirmed.
Paid parking is available near the departure station, providing easy access to the cable car facilities. Bringing dogs and baby strollers on the cable car costs 8.00 euros roundtrip. Note that dogs must be on a leash and wear a muzzle. Bicycles are also allowed on the cable car, making it convenient for cyclists to explore Monte Baldo’s trails. By Car: The departure station in Malcesine is easily accessible by car. From the A22 motorway from Verona, take the Affi exit and follow the signs for Garda, then continue following the signs for Malcesine. From the A22 motorway from Trento, take the Rovereto Sud exit and follow the signs to Malcesine. The cable car station is well-signposted, and ample parking is available nearby.
